Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration

Join us as we honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Malden at the Malden River behind the Malden DPW (356 Commercial St.). Appropriate for all ages.
Thomas “Spirit Tree” Green of the Neponset Band of the Massachusett will be sharing his wisdom with us.
Come EARLY for a beautiful ceremony blessing the Malden River, followed by the building of a fishweir and ending with canoeing on the Malden River.
8:30 am – Blessing of the water ceremony
8:30-10:00 – Interactive fishweir building (how Indigenous people traditionally caught fish)
10:00-12:00 – canoeing on the river (free)
