True Story Theater

True Story Theater
Saturday, January 11, 2020, 8:00 – 9:30PM
at the Malden Senior Community Center

With very little prep time, and a few props, the improvisational actors of True Story Theater take stories from the audience around a common theme and act them out. The results are magical!

This special ticketed event is part of the “NEA Big Read: Malden” sponsored by Malden Reads: One City, One Book. The themes for this special performance will revolve around the selected common read book, “Fahrenheit 451″ by Ray Bradbury. You do NOT need to have read the book to attend.

True Story Theater is a Cambridge-based group whose mission is “to build empathy, respect, and understanding across differences that divide us, through the honoring of true life stories.” Caution: their performances are deeply touching and funny and may cause uncontrollable laughter or tears!

Seating is limited. This event takes place immediately following the FREE Opening Celebration activities at the Malden Senior Community Center, from 6-8pm. You are welcome to attend that part of the evening as well! All the details can be found on the Malden Reads website at maldenreads.org. Please be sure to arrive for the ticketed event at least 15 minutes prior to the 8:00 start time.

The NEA Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. The mission of the NEA Big Read is “to broaden our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book.” Malden Reads: One City, One Book has received a grant from the NEA Big Read to host a program for the Malden Reads 10th anniversary year in 2020.
