Community Dinner: Omori Izakaya & Sushi
April 12, 2023 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Malden Reads will host a Community Dinner at Omori Izakaya & Sushi restaurant in Malden as part of the 2023 event series.
Community Dinners at local restaurants are a tradition for the One City, One Book program. They are a chance to meet others, share a delicious meal, and support a local business, all while engaging in informal discussions related to the topics of this year’s book selection. Though encouraged, you do NOT need to have read the book to attend. General “Table Talk” prompts will be provided.
Izakaya is a type of informal Japanese pub. They are casual places for after-work drinking. Food and drinks are ordered throughout the course of the session as desired. Have a seat and enjoy a taste of our Japanese culture! Kanpai!
Our book selection “They Called Us Enemy” is George Takei’s graphic memoir of his time in the internment camps during WWII. Inspired by his story of his Japanese culture, we will dine at Omori Izakaya.
Omori has planned a special menu for us to enjoy while we discuss a variety of themes and topics, inclusive of everyone who would like to join the event.
The $25 ticket price includes an appetizer, entree, a non-alcoholic beverage, tax and tip. Alcohol is available for purchase.
